Jyoti Gondek has been the Ward 3 Councillor for the city of Calgary since 2017 and is currently running in the 2021 municipal election with hopes of filling the mayor’s chair.
In addition to representing the needs of several north central Calgary communities, Jyoti chairs the City of Calgary’s Standing Policy Committee on Planning and Urban Development and is a member of the Priorities and Finance Committee.
Prior to taking office in 2017, Jyoti was the Director of the Westman Centre for Real Estate Studies at the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business. Jyoti also served on Calgary Planning Commission, as well as holding board and advisory positions with the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Alberta, the National Executive Forum on Public Property, and Calgary Economic Development’s Commercial Real Estate Committee. Jyoti holds a PhD in urban sociology.
